Interpretations

Interpretations
2017-07-23 Marzuolo Archaeologist

Created new context 17032 because of sloping cocciopesto on the east wall. We think this is some sort of liquid holding tank (eg. levigation cistern), and this SU represents a dumping activity in tank. Covers wall 17019.

2017-07-23 Rhodora Vennarucci

Represents dumping activity in reuse phase. Freq. daub suggests area cleaned before reuse.

2017-07-09 Marzuolo Archaeologist

Dumping activity in a liquid-holding tank (levigation tank? cistern?), bounded on north by opus reticulatum wall 17018 and on the east by coccio pesto lined tile wall 17019. Discovery of the sloping outward of coccio pesto determined the end of this layer.
