Huge collapse of tiles l, stones, dolia and pottery tha has a suspect trend: is deeper in the centre because of the feature below it. CB

2022-07-14 Marzuolo Archaeologist

Today, we removed several roof tiles from the collapse in the middle of the steadily deepening hole in the center of the room. The hole extent seems to be defined by a layer of smooth stones embedded in white mortar sloping down from the east, south, and north. - JM

2022-07-11 Marzuolo Archaeologist

This appears to be a dense collapse layer of tiles and stones. On July 8, we uncovered what appeared to be a more compact clay layer (pise wall collapse?) but now the soil seems consistent again with the 21002 top soil. - JM
