Recording not entire cut but just fragment in Trench 4. Cuts through three walls (23016 and 23006 running EW and 23011 running NS) and 23008 and natural clay in the east.

The cut was made for the construction of a drain. It removes sections of 23016 and 23005 to their bottom course. The cutting of these walls appears to explain the (re)use of mortared stones in the drain and fill. It is possible that there is another cut that we did not identify that explains the disruption of the drain in the southern area of Trench 4 and missing channel stones.
