16038 presented increasingly clayey soil with fewer artifacts than the previous layer 16034. Pottery and bone were present, but only rarely. As we excavated this layer, the clay content increased. After a few centimeters, we hit a different strata of heavy clay with red and black clay bonds. Along the eastern bulk we uncovered a ceramic vessel that is suspected to have been used to store doormice. (May have been reused in wall). (KD, CWF, HU)
