Deposit contained only isolated patches of charcoal, occasional tile fragments, unworked stone and daub. This suggests that it is associated with the fire destruction even, and perhaps represents a roof collapse. It is below the interface layer, so contamination is possible but unlikely. This layer must have been a surface, as the cow skeleton was found on it in situ.
