Cocciopesto layer, could be a utilized surface, or as floor leveling under preserved floors (20095 and 20091). Supporting the surface interpretation is the presence of large charcoal pieces, concentrated in the N half, and orange soil in the S/SW area. Both concentrations suggest that something (furniture, object, task area) sat on the surface and burned/melted. Alternatively, the charcoal and orange are remnants of structure (roof, wall) materials that collapsed onto the cocciopesto surface. -EBS
