A medium-brown silty-clay layer in sondage 3 that abutts the lowest courses of wall 15053. Frequent flecks of charcoal and presence of ceramics (including TSI) suggests this may have been the earthern surface associated with the wall. The natural geology was not reached in this trench; however, I suspect this SU covered it. .
We removed only a little window in the sondage to check the relationships with the wall 15053.
