We need to study the materials recovered from the dump. Could this indicate an earlier occupation of the workshop that was "cleaned" up by sweeping everything into the dump when the space was occupied by the blacksmith? But the presence of slag in the dump suggests it was in use while the blacksmith was active. Possible that it is a conveniently placed trash pit located near forge and anvil areas. Having a large pit in entrance to workshop would impact movement in the space.

Possible dump of occupation and production materials - we found large animal bones, frequent pottery, slag, bronze pin. Why put a trash pit/dump in center of entrance to the workshop?
