15044 is an interface layer of anthropic origin. It is bounded by the sondage limits on all sides and cut into by 15046. The fill of 15045 within the cut overlies 15044, slightly outside the boundaries of the cut 15046 (see context sheet 15045). Pottery and small tile fragment inclusions increase in frequency toward the northern limit of the sondage, but are generally infrequent. Many of the pottery fragments appear to be terra sigilata. There is a deposit of charcoal at the northwestern edge of the context.
